Fly to Thailand

Though I persevered to blog in Tamil for my dad about the experiences I had in my tour to Malaysia and Singapore I really had a hard time to transliterate in Tamil.Truly feeling very bad about not able to produce in my mother tongue I continue to write this because I wanted to convey this to my friends very urgently.I have my own reasons.
Many have small kids and and whoever plan for a trip abroad their first choice would be Singapore.Though there are many astonishing places like Universal studios and cruises and Zoological parks,Thailand has much more for your children to enjoy.Any travel agency would dump you into Grand Seasons or the like in Singapore and you will find a commercial colour in Singapore wherever you go whereas thailand is sure to surprise you.
When was thinking about the things my children missed which I had enjoyed in the childhood ,the first thing came to my mind was the feats done by the lions and tigers in our circus.Last December I and  my son were disturbing a lonely tiger in Mysore zoo to stand up and show it's majesty. My son was thrilled to see three  tiger cubs palying in close quarters  and left the place half heartedly. Little did we realise that he was going to feed a cub with a bottle of milk  or lie down on the velvette body of yellow and black stripes and hear the growl arising from somewhere deep within  that majestic Bengal tiger in three weeks.
Sriracha Tiger Zoo a few kms before Pattaya the sea town welcomed us with statues of tiger smiling at us.Breakfast was arranged in a hall covered with glass on all sides and we were astonished to see some fifteen tigers roaming around us and our guide took us to the tiger show where the ring master done the same old rituals of walking the tigers through fire circles we have already seen but to my surprise he made the tiger to walk and dance in two legs .Then we were directed to the croc show it was really thrilling and that was totally new to us .The crocodiles were trained to shut their mouth only when no human head is placed:)
And there were many more funny things to see.Piggy race :A litter of piglets blindly running through straight track between two sties,Joyey the giant pig doing mathematical calculation,Mother pig feeding tiger cubs,Mother tigress feeding piglets all made our jaw drop in surprise.our joy knew no bounds when we were allowed to feed the cubs with milk they provide in bottles.
Then the Safari park in Bangkok.Though the shows were  not presented in English as in Singapore the safari park has best shows featuring urang utans, seals ,Dolphins, birds Etc..These shows were far better than those in Singapore. The tourist agenda of all groups loitering around seems to be perfectly organised and there was no chaos at any of the tables during lunch.
                                                          shoppingggggg........
Bangkok is a girl's paradise.Fashion accessories everywhere... you can find only for girls. Wholesale garment stores line up the streets of Bangkok .We cannot look out for shopping experience as in Singapore regarding gadgets .Everything is a duplicate one .You can even find an iphone working on android platform in Indra mall ha  ha  ha...(is there anyotherway to show that i'm laughing).
Pattaya....This  sea town some 60 kms away from Bangkok has lots of adventures. They take us to paragliding, undersea walk and the silky sands of beach in the islands surrounding the town through boats.Beaches have water scooters and  you can ride banana boats with your family and remember to tell them to turn it upside down to enjoy the dip.If you had taken sea bath in thiruchendoor wounding your legs in the rocks ,you will never have the heart to come out of the pattaya sea.
On dry days you can visit the gems gallery and purchase gems and also Thai silk, crocodile skin purses, wallets, perfumes and souvenirs. The night life in Pattaya is worth watching.Almost every street has eating places with sea food and bars and bands blaring their music and stools occupied by half dressed men and women.Peep from your windows at night they will be sitting..at 3.a.m they will be sitting  .... at 5.am they will be sitting....... at 8 a.m evey place would be empty.
Evening we were taken to the Alcazar Cabaret Show.Very colourful  beautifully dressed up participants come out and exhibit them selves before the show commenced and  it took some time for us to realise that all of them were eunuchs.
Elephant show in Noong Nooch village and pottery garden ,Thai cultural show were also shown to us which I think any child should not miss. The Choaphraya River Cruise and several other Buddhist monasteries and the floating markets are also worth mentioning.Though our tour continued to Phuket ,the Europeans paradise I shall stop here to save some content for my next blog.If your children are pet lovers take them to Bangkok and push Singapore to the second place.

Pursuit of Snow

Getting grrrh.....over the status of friends in US .While we here are sweating in the desert of Madurai weather, guys there are giving cool poses with their beloved and some over there feeling bad about the 3"inches snow huh?But what part had snow played in my life????I have funny experiences to share.
Those scenes in Indian cinema showing snow spread as a white velvet with balls thrown on one another mostly by the lead pair always wanted to feel how it was like to be in it .But being the month of September we were not destined to find snow in Manali but the orchards were full of apple trees. Small streams had  apples - those apples which costed hundred and more were bit by us directly from the trees.Apples and snow do not get along with one another .A stretch of basmati rice fields also feasted our eyes. But they could not be as exciting as playing in snow?!The guide promised to take us to Rohtang pass to show us snow.Hiring those leather jackets and  boots that stinked (this is the worst part)we set on but even after we went there he told we should take the ponies uphills and the poor creatures carried us above and we appeared as if we were set on an adventure to find out some hidden treasure, he showed the distant snow clad mountains and he made us believe we were going to be at the snow land at last. The pony at times climbed at right angles and the helper gave us some tips to ride .Somehow  we came to a place where we could not see anything like snow but rocks and there were group of 4 young men around a setup that had a 25 sq.m of dirty snow.
The great effort made by the ponies for our endeavor went futile .There was a flag fixed near it and a pair of skiies stuck to the ground and a couple  was standing over that and took photographs. The man held the flag with that achieving pose after climbing the Mt.Everest and the photograph came out so well that the man had the expression of Tenzing. We both were asked to stand on the skies and the helpers, you knew what they did, took out fresh snow from a flask and threw on us from all sides when the cameraman clicked and the photograph looked as though we skiied for many kilometers in the Himalayas .When we returned to Manali bazaar a local shopkeeper had a photograph in his reception. His legs were  plunged in 3 feet of snow and had put some snow over his head and also on his shoulders proudly as if he was wearing a medal .And that was taken on the place where we stood there. But anyhow he would have not skiied like us LOL!
